Quality Management
At Upala Agrícola, adhering to the highest quality parameters is a top priority. For this reason, we systematically manage the quality and food safety of our company’s various processes.
Through standardized procedures, audits, inspections, and internal controls, we maintain processes that minimize quality issues—including phytosanitary fruit reviews—while maximizing the signature qualities that distinguish Upala Gold pineapples.
Quality Methods and Processes
Analyzed Variables
We study and select qualitative variables such as external color, internal condition, and crown health, as well as quantitative variables like Brix levels, acidity, and firmness. These can be adjusted according to the specific requirements and destinations of each client to ensure their expectations are met.
Quality by Production Phase
Fruit inspections are performed at harvest. Once at the facility, the fruit is reviewed in the receiving area (Pre-packing Inspection) to determine the characteristics of the product to be packed. A final review is conducted in the Post-packing Inspection area to validate that the final product meets the client's exact specifications.
Hygiene and Food Safety
We conduct control inspections of surfaces and materials (chlorine, wax, and fungicides). Furthermore, we verify the cleaning and disinfection of our processes using microbiological methodologies, including surface and environmental swabs, to detect any potential growth of bacteria, fungi, or yeast.
We monitor integrated pest management systems at the agro-industrial level and perform verification and calibration of metrology equipment, among other prerequisite programs under the BRC Global Standard.
