What does the BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce) certification certify?

BASC – Business Alliance for Secure Commerce – is an international business alliance that promotes secure trade practices in cooperation with governments and international organizations.

This certification confirms that Upala Agrícola has established controls for all its processes, including production, packaging, loading, and transportation of cargo destined for foreign markets. This guarantees the elimination of any possibility of cargo contamination with contraband or drugs before reaching its destination.

The certifying body conducts periodic audits to ensure and validate that Upala Agrícola S.A. complies with all requirements regarding security, personnel, processes, and strategies, thereby minimizing the risk of incidents related to product theft or smuggling.

Some of the requirements necessary for certification are briefly listed below:

  • The company must have a clear commercial and legal track record both in its country of origin and abroad. It must have no criminal record in its country of origin or internationally, and must not, under any circumstances, be considered by national or foreign authorities as a suspicious person with a criminal or questionable reputation.
  • Admission must be requested through a BASC Chapter in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the World BASC Organization.
